The Yarra Ranges Enterprise Centres Ltd (YREC) is a not-for-profit organisation established in late 1998 to support the growth and development of small and micro businesses within the Shire of Yarra Ranges. We provide a range of services for new and developing enterprises including modern business premises at low cost in a number of locations; professional counselling and advice; and easy access to training and networking opportunities.

Previously funded by the Department of Employment, Workplace Relations, and Small Business (DEEWR) Swinburne University and by the Shire of Yarra Ranges, YREC now receives funding only from the Shire of Yarra Ranges.

The Board of Directors includes representatives of the business community.   All the directors give their time, expertise and skills on a voluntary basis.

 

 Alison Fitzgerald

Alison Fitzgerald (EXECUTIVE OFFICER)

Alison Fitzgerald commenced with YREC in April 2014 as Executive Officer. Her career experience includes several Economic Development management roles within Local Government assisting retail, commercial and industrial businesses to streamline the process  of doing business. She has managed significant programs across the business sector and broader community including extensive stakeholder consultation. Working closely with businesses at all levels, Alison has an excellent network to bring business development and growth opportunities to small and start up businesses within the Yarra Ranges.

Debbie deLaps(CHAIR)

Debbie de Laps is a partner in an educational publishing business, and author of several books for schools. For ten years she was CEO of a not for profit professional association, and prior to that she was a teacher in secondary schools and a social worker in the welfare sector. She has worked with government and business organisations in various roles at state and national levels in the areas of curriculum development, examinations and assessment, management of education, training and conference events, as well as governance and strategic planning.  Kathryn Johns is a Certified Practising Accountant. A Senior Finance Manager with over 20 years experience spanning diverse organisations, locally and internationally within a range of sectors including Not-For-Profit, Hotels, Tourism, Arts, Media, Publishing, Entertainment, Retail, Health, Insurance and Mining. Has led high achieving accounting departments and is hands-on in the project management of finance and enterprise wide projects. Also, a small business owner and operator with Stompin’ Wombats, a holiday let in Marysville.

Andy Scott is a chartered Architect, MBA and graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He has led several large international multidisciplinary design businesses spanning the UK, Middle East, China, Asia, USA and Australia. He is currently on assignment in the USA in a role linking 5,500 worldwide building design professionals across the Jacobs Engineering Group.

As a ‘local’, Jeff is instrumental in the progression of community and economic development for the area as a local business and in his role as the President of the Warburton Advancement League Inc and a past and active member of the Warburton Valley Community Economic Development Association (CEDA).
